5/1/2026 Cnchas Lake, NM - Too much moisture in the air, a means rain and foggy at time-to-time. Many dirt roads are muddy, avoid to get into mud, most of the time I stayed on the paved road. Not a good day to be at lake. Two full moons in this month, and today was 1st one.
 
David Hill, Mosquero, NM
5/2/2026 David Hill, Mosquero, NM - I’ve hiked a part of the David Hill, after hike someone told me it was in the private property...oops! David Hill is steep hill that highway is crossing, but road is narrow, steep, winding and no place to park. Suppose to many rock arts, how can I find it, I need father research.

Mills Canyon, Mills, NM
5/3/2026 Mills Canyon, Mills, NM - Higher side of the mesa to hike down to the bottom of the canyon. There are many cliff walls and boulders along the way, but no RA that disappointed, but view was incretable. Canadian River water was all dark green. Mills Canyon Camp Ground is located by the Canadian River side. Mills homestead is not far from the campground, back of the homestead is pinkish red color rock walls, nice area.
 
TO Ranch Cave, NM
5/5/2026 TO Ranch Cave, NM - I drove all day and was supposed to see many petroglyphs, but I couldn’t find any because most of them are on private property. I was disappointed and resting by the side of the road. At that time, Mark stopped by and started to chat. He gave me the cave information and permission to hike one of the canyons in the property. For the next couple of hours, I was looking for a large cave to walk into. The best thing was some petroglyphs and pictographs on the wall of the cave, many of which are fading out. Also, I didn’t take photos, but many graffiti. Mark made an unhappy person converted to happy person, thank you, Mark.
 
Santa Fe Trail, OK
5/7/2026 Santa Fe Trail, OK - Since California gold rush around 1820s, the Santa Fe Trail was booming that main trail to California from east coast states. People were spend about two months to CA. 1880 steam locomotive started run and 60 years of wagon Santa Fe Trail was ended. This information was posted by Cimarron Heritage Center in Boise City, OK. Where I stopped by and saw huge metal dinosaur.
 
Carrizo Canyon, CO
5/8/2026 Carrizo Canyon, CO - There is a one mile trail, that all they have. There are petroglyphs but all faded out, not easy to figure out what original shape was.
 
Picture Canyon, CO
5/8/2026 Picture Canyon, CO - TH of this place is located at the bottom of the canyon, which means cliff walls are on both sides of the canyon. Found RA in three areas with many graffiti. The hiking trail sign was not clear to me, anyway end up 7.5 miles of hike. Start hike flat bottom of the canyon, and hike up the hill to reach the top mesa, nothing there, just a long field hike, then hike down the hill back to the TH. Overall memorable hike experience.

5/9/2026 Lake Hasty Rock Art, CO - I didn’t know this place existed; a ranger told me there are petroglyphs. I wore a snake gaiter and went up and down the vegetation-covered hills. I found some petroglyphs, but not much.
 
Hicklin Springs Petroglyphs, CO
5/10/2025 Hicklin Springs Petroglyphs, CO - According to the landowners, I was looking in the wrong place; my information was off by about 6 miles. This place, locals call Rule Creek. Land owners, Kris and Christa, helped me get to the right place. There are many petroglyphs, and many are faded out and lichen-covered. I really enjoyed bold and may petroglyphs.
 
Apishapa Canyon RA, CO
5/11/2025 Apishapa Canyon RA, CO - Also called Petroglyphs at White Rock. I met the owner, and he kindly gave me permission and directions on where to look. There are two RA locations in this area, 1/4 mile apart from each other. To reach 1st location, pass the old dam and cross the wire fence. Several huge boulders have many petroglyphs on them. 2nd location, cross the wire fence twice and pass the dry canyon. There are large boulders and cliff walls that have many petroglyphs. Today was my lucky day!
 
Lake Meredith, CO
5/11/2026 Lake Meredith, CO - It is a Quiet and good size lake. There is no boat in the lake, seems to everything perfect at this lake. However, depending wind, when no wind, smell is awful, I don’t know how to explain, it’s come from the lake, I want to throw up feeling.
 
Kenner Ranch, Cucharas Canyon, CO
5/12/2026 Kenner Ranch, Cucharas Canyon, CO - The ranch house is abandoned and currently under the BLM property. Leif came here to short hike, and I followed him to enjoy the short hike with him. He knows around here and told me, he never see the petroglyphs even there are many great cliff walls around here. About 1/2 mile hike from the ranch house, it was top of the cliff and view was spectacrer.
 
Hamilton State Fishing Lake, KS
5/13/2026 Hamilton State Fishing Lake, KS - This place is located close to Colorado and Kansas border in Kansas. Lake water level is very low, almost gone, last next 2-3 years are most. I believe it was full of water in the lake and beautiful, but not anymore.
 
El Quartelejo Museum, Scott City, KS
5/14/2026 El Quartelejo Museum, Scott City, KS - In the museum, there are two separate sections, one is Jerry Thomas Gallery, which very nice area and take photos are prohibited. Jerry Thomas is exquisite western and wildlife finest artist. Another section is donation items from the residents.
 
Goodman State Fishing Lake, KS
5/14/2026 Goodman State Fishing Lake, KS - This place is middle of nowhere, a means only can see is a field, no trees, no houses, no rivers, nothing. Lake water level is very low, water is gone by 5 more years. Boat ramp has been closed for while.
 
Kanoppolis Lake, KS
5/15/2026 -5/20/2026 Kanoppolis Lake, KS - There is a petroglyphs panel in this lake, but location is secretive, officially it is not open for the public. I found the location but to reach there is not easy, cross the deep river 2-3 times, depending on which route to take, but 8 to 20 miles of hike necesarry. I decided not in this time.
 
Mushroom Rock State Park, KS
5/17/2026 Mushroom Rock State Park, KS - This place is not far from the Kanopolis Lake, stopped by to enjoy the unique muchrooom rocks. However there are many graffiti bottom of the mushroom rocks. Kansas people like graffiti? Most graffiti are date and name.
 
Chase State Fishing Lake, Strong City, KS
5/21/2026 Chase State Fishing Lake, Strong City, KS - It is beautiful good size lake with full of water. One side of the lake, surrounding by green trees, bushes and vegetations. Otherside of the lake is covered with green grass. I never see the fish feeder before, if feeding fishes, then fishes are not hungly, fisherman never catch the fish. I don’t know this is a good idea or not.
 
Montgomery State Fishing Lake, Liberty, KS
5/22/2026 Montgomery State Fishing Lake, Liberty, KS - When stay in this park, feel stop the time. The lake view doesn’t change one or two hours, may be days or months. There are many large size trees everywhere, nice lake to stay, even not clouded. I enjoyed the white clane walking slowly in the water, just like I’m waching the show, and beautiful red bird.
 
Lover’s Leap, Liberty, KS
5/23/2026 Lover’s Leap, Liberty, KS - Two Indian tribe goups that don’t get along, and lovers from each tribe does not approved, that cased by suicide jump from the top of the cliff wall. That the story I heared. In this area, there is a large cave on the ground leve, full of spray graffiti in and out. Not only cave, spray graffiti are everywhere around here.
 
Treaty Rock, Liberty, KS
5/23/2026 Treaty Rocks, Liberty, KS - An amazing thing happened: I met the owner of the ranch at the front of the gate, where I was stopping. He came to take care of his cattle's tick problem. He took me to the Treaty Rocks to show me the petroglyphs. Without his help, I would never have found it was not easy to get to. Thank you, Justin. Anyway, at the Treaty Rocks, he told me to explore around, and they left. I believe there are some more petroglyph rocks around there. But I was freaked out by the grown vegetation, bushes, and trees, a few minutes to move one step, concern the ticks and snakes, I couldn’t explore around. Emotionally, I was happy to see the Treaty Rocks, at the same time, I was sad because I freaked out. Happy and sad feelings at the same time, I don’t know how to explain.
 
Kansas Motercycle Museum, Marquette, KS
5/25/2026 Kansas Motercycle Museum, Marquette, KS - 40 Yers and 600+ trophies by one perosn, Engdahl, who raised in this community. One wall of the museum is displayed full of trophies. He was farmer, rancher and mechanics and motercycle racer. He donated all his race related belonging to the museum. In the museum, there are Japanese dalls, that Japanese motercycle company sent it to him when order of motercycle incleased.
 
Czech Egg, Wilson, KS<
5/26/2026 Czech Egg, Wilson, KS - It is the word's largest hand painted fibergless egg 20ft tall and 15ft wide, that located in the Czech community of Wilson. Czech pronounce Check. Also more smaller eggs about 4ft height in the town. Walk around to find it, I found total 9.

Smoky Hill River, Wilson, KS
5/27/2026 Smoky Hill River, Wilson, KS - Librarian at the Wilson library gave me Dave's phone number; he is the person to ask about the petroglyphs, the librarian said. He gave me a RA tour of the Smoky Hill River today. It seems that it was impossible to cross the deep river, but I made it. There are many cliff walls, some of which are very large, and many inscriptions since 1800, and some petroglyphs. Mainly, we've been hiking on the deer trail, or Dave cut the branch of the trees with a branch cutter to make a trail. Thank you, Dave and Tony, I had a memorable experience.
 
Cave Hollow, North of Carnero, KS
5/27/2026 Cave Hollow, North of Carnero, KS - I didn't know the exact location of the cave. On my way to the cave, I stopped by a ranch to ask the direction, he said "I own it." My goodness, I was asking the owner of the cave. He explained to me how to get it, but I was not sure if I could make it or not. He was busy today, but his wife gave me a ride and took me to the cave. It was large size petroglyph, but it's gone due to water damage. There are many graffiti, but I saw some petroglyphs between the graffiti. What's a day, doesn't happen so often, made my day!
 
Ottawa State Fishing Lake, KS
5/29/2026 Ottawa State Fishing Lake, KS - The weather was down side, that caused by only a handful people in the park. The lake is a large size, many large trees surrounding the lake, very quiet and peaceful park. Main attraction is the fishing. There is a party house, nice rock house, use for large group people even rain.
 
Post Rock Art, Lucas, KS
5/30/2026 Post Rock Art, Lucas, KS - Highway 232 between Wilson and Lucas, there are many post rocks, among them some artists decorated post rocks. It is not easy to find it, highway is 65 MPH speed and check each post is impossible to me. There is not many places to park the car at side of the road. Anyway I found some post rock arts.
 
Pony Creek Lake, Sabetha, KS
5/31/2026 Pony Creek Lake, Sabetha, KS - When I saw redhead black bird, I thought it is a Concord, but little smaller than Concord. Asked to a local, and he mentioned me it is Bussard. I never see so many Bussards in one place, least 30 maybe more, they are just waiting someone to feed them. There are half dozen fishermen, enjoy the fishing.
