Indian Cave State Park, NE
6/1/2026 Indian Cave State Park, NE - Large stairway to reach near the cave. There are so many graffiti and lichen cover the cave walls. Finding petroglyphs between graffiti and lichen is not an easy task. But I found some petroglyphs.
 
Blackbird Scenic Overview, NE
6/2/2026 Blackbird Scenic Overview, NE - Stopped by small overview area of the Missouri River. The missouri river can see in distance. In this area, there is a building that information posted of the history around here especially tribal history.
 
Ponca State Park, NE
6/2/2026 Ponca State Park, NE - Three light brown-colored tall rocks like and a white short rock like are called "Towers of Time". Each one has its own theme of figures. All those are man-made and not real rocks. This place was recommended by the Blackbird ranger’s office when I said I am looking for the petroglyphs. I guess "Towers of Time" is rock art, similar to petroglyphs in Nebraska.
 
Sioux City Public Museum, Iowa
6/3/2026 Sioux City Public Museum, Iowa - My car GPS took me to the old Sioux City Public Museum, it is nice looking building, but little smaller for the museum. From the Internet search, this museum can tell me the one particular RA location, but not. The site is scretive and no hints give the way. Wasting time to come over, but I saw one petroglyphs panel in the museum.
 
Oahe Dam, Pierre, SD
6/6/2026 Oahe Dam, Pierre, SD - The dam created Oahe Lakes on the Missouri River. The lake is large in size and beautiful, but not many people. I saw a historical chapel on the edge of the lake, the chapel was mission school.
 
Minneconjou Lakeside Use Area, SD
6/6/2026 Minneconjou Lakeside Use Area, SD - When I got there, a large parking lot was full of the pickup tracks with hocked with boat trailers. This is a remote area, I was expected no one here, that’s reason I was surprised. Everyone enjoy boating in the Lake Oahe. Seems paradice of the small boaters here.
 
West Lake, Napoleon, ND
6/8/2026 West Lake, Napoleon, ND - West Lake and McKenna Lake are connected each other or not, I’m not sure. Also two more no name lakes near by, one is west and other one is southwest. There are tons of lakes or ponds around here.
 
Medicine Rock, South of Elgin, ND
6/9/2026 Medicine Rock, South of Elgin, ND - The medicine rock is located on the top of the hill, and protected by the wire fence. I was excited to see the petroglyphs, one of the website indicated that most petroglyphs found from here in North Dakota. However I found some sort of petroglyphs, but I’m concerned it doesn’t count as petroglyphs, more like crack on the rocks. Sad to say, equivalent to no petroglyphs here.
 
Sheep Creek Dam, Elgin, ND
6/10/2026 Sheep Creek Dam, Elgin, ND - The dam created a beautiful lake, surrounding lake is all green. There are couple campgrounds west side and east side of the lake, that the main attraction here. When I was there, no fishing, no boat, no people, very quiet and strong wind.
 
Lake Tschida, Elgin, ND
6/11/2026 Lake Tschida, Elgin, ND - Also called the Heart Butte Reservoir. Pronounce Tschida as Chida. This is a large lake, approximately 13,000 acres. It divided to a few section, one section that I saw it. There are a few campgrounds and many boat lamps. Also sand beaches and play grounds. Main attractions are fishing and hunting.
 
Knife River Indian Village National Histrical Site, ND
6/11/2026 Knife River Indian Village National Histrical Site, ND - There is a reconstructed the Earthlodge for demonstration, multi generations up to 15 people live in one Earthlodge. A village is a collection of the Earthlodges. Near the Knife River, view from sky and use imagination, still visible the site of village with the Earthlodge mark.
 
Crown Butte Lake, Bismarck, ND
6/11/2026 Crown Butte Lake, Bismarck, ND - This is a relatively small lake, close to I-94 highway and west of Bismarck. All green surrounding the lake. I saw some fishermen, even there are fishing pole holders with drink holders on the deck.
 
North Dakota State Museum, ND
6/11/2026 North Dakota State Museum, ND - It is a beautiful museum, we can spend all day here. I just stopped by the dinosaur section, decorated dinosaur bones stunning way. They spent a lot of money to buy all dinosaur bones that I felt at that time. I saw many school tours variety of ages.
 
Heinrich Martin Dam, Adrian, ND
6/12/2026 Heinrich Martin Dam, Adrian, ND - The lake is medium size, and surronding by all greens. There are three picnic shelters, a picnic table under it, but its old and ready to tuble down. A residential house near by. The dam control the water level of the lake, however thare are many lakes in ND without dam, they don’t have outlet, I hope not, but I can think about desaster of overflow or flood.
 
LaMoure County Memorial Park, ND
6/13/2026 LaMoure County Memorial Park, ND - Heinrich Martin Dam, LaMoure County Memorial Park and Lake LaMoure are part of the "Chan San San Scenic Backway". This park that next to the golf course is just like the gold course, well maintained green ground. Unfortunately the museum is close for while.
 
Lake Lamoure Recreation Area, ND
6/13/2026 Lake Lamoure Recreation Area, ND - It's a large lake, and popular place for the boating and fishing. It is beautiful place. I didn't spend too much time, but seems to the sectin by section, each sectin has own unique style.
 
Limesand-Seefeldt Dam Recreation Area, ND
6/14/2026 Limesand-Seefeldt Dam Recreation Area, ND - I assume that the water level of this lake is getting higher and higher. That the why only visible is the roof, most of the house is submarged by lake water. The lake is a smaller size and no place to have a picnic.
 
Moon Lake Recreation Area, ND
6/14/2026 Moon Lake Recreation Area, ND - There is lake adjuscent to this Moon Lake, also more lakes near by. I don’t know why called the Moon Lake. When the full moon reflect nicely on the surface of the lake water, but that’s apply to any lekes.
 
Warsing Dam, Seyenne, ND
6/17/2026 Warsing Dam, Seyenne, ND - The dam made a leke, and about the same size of lake is the green park, people to enjoy. There are many picnic tables and a few picnic shelters with wind cover. The park is just like a golf corse and many trees, a good maintained the park.
 
Devils Lake, ND
6/18/2026 Devils Lake, ND - The Devils Lake is a huge leke, view of other side of the lke is just a line. I took the lake photos from variety of places. There are many people enjoy here, but lake is so large, it is quiet area.
 
Langdon Pond Recreation Area, ND
6/19/2026 Langdon Pond Recreation Area, ND - It is a pond, a means little smaller than the lake. But a good size pond. There is a boat lamp, fishing deck. I wish they have a hiking trail, so that I can walk around the pond. Weather was unpredictable today, a few minutes of rain then sunny, repeated a few times.

Icelandic State Park, ND
6/20/2026 Icelandic State Park, ND - The visitor center is also the historical museum. As an extention of museum, there are several historical buildings outside the museum. They have a large size lake called Lake Renwick, which water level control by Renwich Dam, there are many campgrounds, and campers are enjoy to stay there. Addition to they have several hiking trails, I enjoyed couple miles of hike today.
 
Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area, ND
6/21/2026 Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area, ND - This place is a longest and deepest river valley in North Dakota, I took photos in variety of places in this area. Mounts curved by glacial meltwaters. I have abandend road hike, no view other than the tall trees both sides of the road. When the road getting narrower and bad condition, that where I turn back. I didn't touch the trees or bushes, but I found 4 ticks after hike. I wonder how did I get ticks?
 
East Park Wildness Management Area, MN
6/22/2026 East Park Wildness Management Area, MN - My car GPS shows "Nelson Slough" rather than "East Park WMA". Vegetation over grow in the lake and end up like a marsh. There is a project going on and heavy machines working one area. I didn’t see a beach to enjoy the lake.
 
Pembina State Museum, ND
6/23/2026 Pembina State Museum, ND - Main floor has art galleries, and elevator to go to the view area. The small elevator ride, and reached the small overview floor, but view was wide view, can see the Canadian border, other than that all flat fields.
 
Dominion City Dam, MB, Canada
6/23/2026 Dominion City Dam, MB, Canada - This was my first stop after enter Canada. The river water was brown color, and weather was rain and cloudy mixed up. The dam is shorter than I expected, and still couldn’t figured out what’s perpose of the dam, other than fishing. There were several people enjoy fishing. Surrounding dam area is very green.
 
Winnipeg, MB, Canada
6/24/2026 Winnipeg, MB, Canada - Walked around the VIA Rail station in Winnipeg. Visited the museum and outdoor art gallery are among them. This area is the center of Winnipeg, and busy traffic all day long. There is not enough parking space around here.
 
Hollywood Beach, MB, Canada
6/25/2026 Hollywood Beach, MB, Canada - This beach is part of the Lake Manitoba. It is beautiful, quiet large lake, can’t see the other side of the lake. The sand beach is almost 1/2 mile long. When I was here, no one here, the beach was all mine. The water color of lake is little brown, and little cold side, don’t want to soak in the lake. The problem is too many bugs, a few different king small bugs that’s the main reason, no one here.
 
Dauphin Lake, MB, Canada
6/28/2026 Dauphin Lake, MB, Canada - There are about 2,000,000 lakes in Canada. This Dauphin Lake is among them. It is a large, quiet and beautiful lake. The lake side is all private property, except this recreation area. The beach is about 1/4 mile long, and the dog beach is separate area. The Rainbow Beach is actually no beach and four campgrounds. There are many campers, a nice thing was each camp site divided by trees, so that protect privacy.
 
McLennan Park, Ochre River, MB, Canada
6/28/2026 McLennan Park, Ochre River, MB, Canada - This is an Ochre River town park located by Highway 20. The big black bear statue is protecting this park and town. The railroad is crossing the park. The two red chairs are waiting for someone to sit. There are more: the volleyball court, picnic shelter, and gazebo. A good thing in this park is accepting free short-term camping.
 
Fort Dauphin Museum, Dauphin, MB, CAN
6/29/2026 Fort Dauphin Museum, Dauphin, MB, CAN - In the museum property, a several buildings are standing such as a church, tipi, transportation sheds, residential house, blacksmith shop, trading post, school, and cabin. In the main building, there are many histrical items displayed.
 
Swan River Flooding, MB, Canada
6/28/2026 Swan River Flooding, MB, Canada - Heavy rain all day started last night, flash flood emergency alert was issued, significant precipitation caused rapid water level rise, floodwater moves swiftly serious risks to life. Over flood road caused many road damages, bridge damages, house and building damages, and railroad damages. I tried to move out the flooding area, it was not easy, more than a dozen places I drove in the water, some place I was too scary to drive, some one helped me by "follow me", finally I made it, I was a lucky person to alive.
