Blackbird Scenic Overview, NE
6/2/2026 Blackbird Scenic Overview, NE - Stopped by small overview area of the Missouri River. The missouri river can see in distance. In this area, there is a building that information posted of the history around here especially tribal history.

Ponca State Park, NE
6/2/2026 Ponca State Park, NE - Three light brown-colored tall rocks like and a white short rock like are called "Towers of Time". Each one has its own theme of figures. All those are man-made and not real rocks. This place was recommended by the Blackbird ranger’s office when I said I am looking for the petroglyphs. I guess "Towers of Time" is rock art, similar to petroglyphs in Nebraska.

Sioux City Public Museum, Iowa
6/3/2026 Sioux City Public Museum, Iowa - My car GPS took me to the old Sioux City Public Museum, it is nice looking building, but little smaller for the museum. From the Internet search, this museum can tell me the one particular RA location, but not. The site is scretive and no hints give the way. Wasting time to come over, but I saw one petroglyphs panel in the museum.

Oahe Dam, Pierre, SD
6/6/2026 Oahe Dam, Pierre, SD - The dam created Oahe Lakes on the Missouri River. The lake is large in size and beautiful, but not many people. I saw a historical chapel on the edge of the lake, the chapel was mission school.

Minneconjou Lakeside Use Area, SD
6/6/2026 Minneconjou Lakeside Use Area, SD - When I got there, a large parking lot was full of the pickup tracks with hocked with boat trailers. This is a remote area, I was expected no one here, that’s reason I was surprised. Everyone enjoy boating in the Lake Oahe. Seems paradice of the small boaters here.

West Lake, Napoleon, ND
6/8/2026 West Lake, Napoleon, ND - West Lake and McKenna Lake are connected each other or not, I’m not sure. Also two more no name lakes near by, one is west and other one is southwest. There are tons of lakes or ponds around here.

Medicine Rock, South of Elgin, ND
6/9/2026 Medicine Rock, South of Elgin, ND - The medicine rock is located on the top of the hill, and protected by the wire fence. I was excited to see the petroglyphs, one of the website indicated that most petroglyphs found from here in North Dakota. However I found some sort of petroglyphs, but I’m concerned it doesn’t count as petroglyphs, more like crack on the rocks. Sad to say, equivalent to no petroglyphs here.

Sheep Creek Dam, Elgin, ND
6/10/2026 Sheep Creek Dam, Elgin, ND - The dam created a beautiful lake, surrounding lake is all green. There are couple campgrounds west side and east side of the lake, that the main attraction here. When I was there, no fishing, no boat, no people, very quiet and strong wind.

Lake Tschida, Elgin, ND
6/11/2026 Lake Tschida, Elgin, ND - Also called the Heart Butte Reservoir. Pronounce Tschida as Chida. This is a large lake, approximately 13,000 acres. It divided to a few section, one section that I saw it. There are a few campgrounds and many boat lamps. Also sand beaches and play grounds. Main attractions are fishing and hunting.

Knife River Indian Village National Histrical Site, ND
6/11/2026 Knife River Indian Village National Histrical Site, ND - There is a reconstructed the Earthlodge for demonstration, multi generations up to 15 people live in one Earthlodge. A village is a collection of the Earthlodges. Near the Knife River, view from sky and use imagination, still visible the site of village with the Earthlodge mark.

Crown Butte Lake, Bismarck, ND
6/11/2026 Crown Butte Lake, Bismarck, ND - This is a relatively small lake, close to I-94 highway and west of Bismarck. All green surrounding the lake. I saw some fishermen, even there are fishing pole holders with drink holders on the deck.

North Dakota State Museum, ND
6/11/2026 North Dakota State Museum, ND - It is a beautiful museum, we can spend all day here. I just stopped by the dinosaur section, decorated dinosaur bones stunning way. They spent a lot of money to buy all dinosaur bones that I felt at that time. I saw many school tours variety of ages.
