Lucero Canyon, NM
5/3/2025 Lucero Canyon, NM - Someone posted the Lucero Canyon East RA site on the Internet. I tried to find it, spent an additional 1.5 miles hiking up to another canyon, but it was bogus, nothing there, disappointed. However, Lucero Canyon RA sites are very enjoyable, two separate locations with many figures that are 4.5 miles round trip, adding 1.5 miles, total of 6 miles hike on the canyon wash today.

Silver Spring, NM
5/5/2025 Silver Spring, NM - About 1/4 mile of road is full of small to medium rocks. I’m glad I didn’t drive through. I’m sure I stocked there. But tire marks indicate someone drove it. The Silver Spring is totally dried up, can’t even tell where the spring originated. I was hoping there would be RA by the spring area, but just disappointed.

Cleofas Canyon, NM
5/6/2025 Cleofas Canyon, NM - I’ve hiked 4.5 miles on the wash, but can’t find any RAs and turned back. Soon, I saw the ATV guy, he told me this is the wrong Royal for the petroglyphs, the next Royal. There are 5 Royals here, Royal means wash or branch of the canyon. He gave me a ride to the RA site. He is a good driver, and his ATV is very comfortable to ride. He also mentioned "Bird of Paradise" yellow and red flower that has just started to bloom and will last couple of weeks. I enjoyed seeing petroglyphs in the canyon.

Silver Tank, Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument, NM
5/6/2025 Silver Tank, Organ Mountains Desert Peaks National Monument, NM - I wanted to come here from the Silver Spring road, but the road condition was awful there, so I assumed the road condition here is not good, then drove #185 and the I-10 highway all around to get here. I was amazed to reach here from the south of Highway I-10, all paved road. The Silver Canyon and Silver Tank are all bone dry. The farmer and ranch business had a hard time or already gone by now.

El Paso Museum of Archaeology, TX
5/7/2025 El Paso Museum of Archaeology, TX - This museum has so many nice items in and out. Outside the garden is all kinds of special plants that grow in Texas. Inside one area is the recreation of the ancestor’s life in Texas. Another area is an amazing collection of ceramic dishes and bowls, and much more that existed in Texas a long time ago. They spend a lot of money on those to display.

Alamo West, TX
5/9/2025 Alamo West, TX - I thought, RAs are located in a smaller canyon, I’ve hiked the wrong canyon again, actually the next larger canyon where RAs are located. Oh well, it was nice weather, I enjoyed the canyon hike anyway. In the large canyon, no need to hike much; just drive up, where I parked my car, there are many petroglyphs located on the larger boulders.

Alamo Dam, TX
5/10/2025 Alamo Dam, TX - I was not too far from the Alamo Dam, so I stopped by to say "Hi" to some old friends. Many friends are hiding behind boulders, takes time to find them. I didn’t spend too much time there, and I’ve missed many friends. Visiting the same area again reminds me of how I was excited to visit here for the first time.

Lobo Valley, TX
5/12/2025 Lobo Valley, TX - Accidentaly found that one of the motel workers is living in the Lobo Valley and has visited the RA site. I couldn’t find the exact location on the Internet, and she gave me enough information. I was so excited and couldn’t sleep last night. There are many rocks and boulders, but couldn’t find any RAs for a while. After 2.5 miles hike on the dirt road from where I parked, I finally found it. In one area, there are many petroglyphs. I wanted to visit this site for a long time, and my dream came true today.

China Draw, Demings, NM
5/16/2025 China Draw, Deming, NM - I wasn’t sure the exact location of the petroglyphs, but China Draw runs from north to south, and south is flat. So, focusing on the north area, just before the Hidden Valley ranch, there is a parking lot, and across the China Draw, there are pretty rock fields. Started hiking and found two separate petroglyph sites by following the trail. How lucky I was today!

Walnut Gulch, Tombstone, AZ
5/17/2025 Walnut Gulch, Tombstone, AZ - I went to the monument first, but I don’t know how to get to the RA site. Next, I used an alternative way to reach the RA site that was posted in the Internet. The dirt road is narrow and not often used. About 100 ft before the old wooden railroad trestle bridge, where I parked, and RAs are southwest side of the bridge. There are some, but not many RAs. Use to two large creeks meet in this area, but totally dried up both creeks.

Garden Canyon, Ft Huachuca, AZ
5/18/2025 Garden Canyon, Ft Huachuca, AZ - It is in the active US Army base, first thing to get a permit, then drive on the Garden Canyon Road all the way to the gate, there is a parking lot. Then hike 2.2 miles on the uphill road. There are sites #1 and #2, both cross the wooden bridge and steps up to reach the RA site. Site #1 is white and red pigments pictographs on the black surface. Site 2 is black, red pigments of pictographs on the brown surface. #1 to #2 is about 1/2 mile apart.

Las Guijas RA, AZ
5/19/2025 Las Guijas RA, AZ - The Petroglyphs panel is on the top of the Las Guijas peak, with the waypoint that information I have, and hiked three peaks, but couldn’t find the petroglyphs panel; the waypoint was bogus. Instead, I found some pictoglyphs that were not mentioned on the Internet. There are many rocks, and each rock has a different color combination, maybe I have missed it without knowing.

Inscription Hill, Ironwood Forest National Monument, AZ
5/20/2025 Inscription Hill, Ironwood Forest National Monument, AZ - In this area, many RA sites are available. My initial plan was to visit all sites. However, over 100°F temperature, bearly hiked one round of the base of the Inscription Hill. There are over 1,200 petroglyphs in this hill alone. I think I took 10% of the photos. I’ll be back to this place some other time under the cool temperature to visit many more RA sites.

Winterburg, Tonopah, AZ
5/23/2025 Winterburg, Tonopah, AZ - West side of the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, there are many smaller mountains and hills, which are covered with black rocks and boulders. I can›t say petroglyphs are on every mountain and hill, but many mountains and hills that sure. I tried a couple of smaller hills and found many petroglyphs. My car showed 106°F today, and a couple of hills are more than I can hike in that high-temperature weather. Someday, I will come back here to visit most of the mountains and hills in the cool weather.

Agate House & Long Logs, PFNP
5/30/2025 Agate House & Long Logs, PFNP, AZ - Agate House is totally reconstructed with petrified wood, not too many entirely constructed with petrified wood buildings anywhere in the world. There are many petrified woods on the ground in this area that we can see; if excavate it, there are many more petrified woods, just like a jungle was here. Those were large trees before they were petrified. However, there are no trees in this area now. The same area, it was jungle and now desert, interesting.

Holbrook Festival, AZ
5/31/2025 Holbrook Festival, AZ - Closed part of the main street, the Holbrook Festival takes place. Many vendors, many people, many classic cars displaied on the road, and many events. Some of those events were the capture in the jail, Chile contest, and native Indian's pow-wow dancing, and more. I really enjoyed pow-wow dancing.
