6/29-30/2012  Island in the Sky, Canyonlands NP, UT - I have visited the Green River Overlook, First and Second Overlook, Aztec Butte, Mesa Arch Black Canyon Overlook, Grand View Point Overlook, White Rim Overlook. Also I have hiked the Murphy Loop of 11.3 miles, at the beginning of the down the large cliff, I thought this is class 3 or 4 trail, however NP did a good job and it was class 2 hike all the way.

6/26-27/2012  Arches National Park, UT - There is over 2,000 arches existing in the park that the ranger said and I have seen only 25 arches in two days. Some places are very difficult to find the parking space because many visitors like Double Arch, Delicate Arch and when I got at the Devils Garden parking lot at 8:30am 80% of parking spaces are already filled up.

6/25/2012  Moab, UT - I have visited many rock art (RA) sites in and around the Moab such as Potash Rd, Jug Handler Arch & RA, Dinosaur Track RA, Court House Wash RA, Gold Course RA, Moon Flower RA and Birth Scene RA. I am posting some photos here however I will post many more photos in my rock art collection section later. Moab is booming town by adventure especially for young adults.

6/24/2012  Hole in the Rock, UT - This place is totally commercialized. The rock was one solid rock and use dynamites to made hole, the tour is available to see the inside the man-made cave, it was 5,000 sqft residential area of the original owner and some of are parts of the store now. In this property, there are some unique items displayed, such as car made by metals pieces, rock chair and more.

6/24/2012  Looking Glass Rock, UT - The large sandstone alcove has two arches and one cave inside. It is impressive size of the alcove and not difficult to climb up to the large size of the arch, 1st row 4th photo shows small arch from the large arch view. It is not far from the highway 191 and sign from the highway is well marked. The cave is located little off to the righ of the center, seems to man-made cave.

6/24/2012  Needles Overlook, UT - From this place, the Needles are located very far, the 2nd row last 3 photos are the needles from this overlook point using my zoom lens. Not only Needles are visible from this place, it has wide range of the beautiful mountains and canyons view. The view point is located pretty high point and surronding with the fence.

6/23/2012  Shay Canyon Petroglyphs, UT - This place is located between the Newspaper Rock and Indian Creek Petroglyph site. The trail is well defined and easy to find the first panel. It is about 0.3 miles long trail and petroglyphs were here and there. When the trail merge to the bottom of the dry wash river that the end of the petroglyph trail. I'll post more photos and map to my rock art collection later.

6/23/2012  Indian Creek Petroglyphs, UT - This place is located by the highway 211 and less than 2 miles from the Newspaper Rock. Park the car at the Mile Marker 4 and short walk up to the panel. The tall straight up rock wall is above the scrambling hill and the panel is located at the bottom of the rock wall, visible from the highway. I'll post the waypoint and more photos at my rock collection later.

6/22-23/2012  Needles, Canyonlands National Park, UT - I have hked to the Chesler Park, which is very popular place to hike, also I have hiked to the Slickrock trail, those are beautiful and photo perfect places. Beautiful view and nice trees but campground was almost empty because too many flys, all kind and sizes that people away from the park. The flys were annoying during hiking too.

6/22/2012  Newspaperock, UT - The Newspaper Rock is not written on the entire rock, seems to removed some parts of the rocks and created place for the petroglyphs. It is located by the highway 211 just before the Needles, Canyonlands National Park. There are many petroglyphs on the rock, see the 1st row 3rd - 5th photos are overlook of the Newspaper Rock. Later I'll add the photos to my rock art collection.

6/19/2012  Spruce Tree House, Mesa Verde National Park, CO - This house is for the self guided tour, not ranger guided tour. It was similar to all other alcove houses except this house has very black ceiling that the indication of the flame was here all the time and black color density indicates this house was using until very last minutes. We can walk in to the re-production of the Kiva that was nice.

6/19/2012  Petroglyph Trail, Mesa Verde National Park, CO - The trail was little over 2 miles, first half of the trail was nice trail I enjoyed hiking but second half of the trail was flat and didn't enjoy much, but I saw a snake, 2nd row 4th photo and colored lizard, 2nd row 5th photo, it was beautiful lizard I never see before. The petroglyph panel was not large panel and only one panel, which little disappointed.

6/19/2012  Mesa Verde National Park, CO - This is the section of all other Mesa Verde collections, which inclued the Kodak House, Mesa Top Loop area, Far View Sites and of course the entrance area. I was amaized that they had a reservor, see 2nd row 3rd and 4th photos. Most of the houses/ruins are located in the alcove, however there are some ruins on the ground other than the alcove.

6/18/2012  Durango Train, CO - The official name is the Durango - Silverton Narrow Gaouge Rail Road. Three trains run in one day and leave Durango early morning and about 4 hours to get to the Silverton and couple hours break there then little over 3 hours to come back to the Durango, which means all day process to travel for 10 miles distance from Durango to Silvertone.

6/17/2012  Cliff Palace, Mesa Verde, CO - I have joined to the final tour of the day, which also my last ranger guided tour in the Mesa Verde. This place is located under the nice sunny afternoon sun, it is warmer place in winter. It is similar setting to another houses, located in the alcove and high place in the cliff. They spent 20 to 30 years to complete this place that the ranger said.

6/17/2012  Balcony House, Mesa Verde NP, CO - This is my second ranger guided tour, there is no way to get in without the ranger guided tour, there were 2 to 3 gates to go through. The double size ladder was placed and some single ladders also, but children were no problem to climb up the ladders. This house is standing in the alcove just like other houses, and placed very high side of the cliff.

6/17/2012  Long House, Mesa Verde National Park, CO - There are three ranger guided tours available for the public from the Visitor Center of the Mesa Verde, $3/person. The Long House tour was one of them, we rode the trim to get to the TH, then short hike down to the Long House. I guess the ranger guided tour is the best way to preserve the old ruin from the human damage.

6/16/2012  Sand Dune Swimming Pool, Hooper, CO - It is located at the middle of no-where, nearest houses are miles away. It is very popular place for the locals especially for the families. I thought it is perfect place to soak in the hot springs and update my website, wifi was available, I was not lucky enough their wifi screwed up and many files were corrupted, which means I have to re-do all over again.

6/16/2012  Sand Dune National Park, CO - I was there early morning to wait the sun rise to take photos of the Sand Dune. I am happy that photos came out exactly I was expected, warm color of the Sand Dune with dark shadows. We can hike up on the Sand Dune and everyone is enjoying with bear feeet on the sand. There was water but not much, at the peak time, there is very short river appears.

6/15/2012  Zapata Falls, CO - There was no information of what waterfalls look like, so that I was ready to leave after I saw first 4 photos. A couple came, they continuously hiked on the rocks in the river, I followed them, then large waterfalls appeared in the dark canyon. They told me it was spectacular during winter time all freeze out and can walk on the ice. I am glad that I didn't miss the best parts.

6/15/2012  Earthship Community, Taos, NM - They called 'Great World Earthship Community' The common of the houses in this community that using hillside and north side of the house is underground and south side of the house is large windows, which means cool in summer and warm in winter. Also they try to use the re-cycle materials as possible that environmentally friendly include gray water.

6/15/2012  Ojo Caliente Hot Springs, NM - This place is getting better and nicer than before, also getting expensive $30/perperson for Friday thru Sunday, doesn't matter stay one hour or all day. The ellipse size of the outdoor pool is not so old. The mud pool is fun place for young people to get muddy. Overall everyone is relaxing and enjoying the hot springs under the nice weather.

6/15/2012  Tsankawi, Bandelier National Monument, NM - It is a part of the Bandelier National Monument but located at the east side of the town of the White Rock. I believe the town name of White Rock came from this area, where rocks are all white and pants became white, because many parts of the trail were very narrow and fun to hike up and down. There are many petroglyphs but quality is not good.

6/14/2012  Bandelier National Monument, NM - This place has variety of ruins and cliff dwellings to offer such as the Long House and Talas Houses Cliff Dwellings, Tyuonyi, Big Kiva, however the Alcove House is the best, which we have to climb up the 140 ft on 4 ladders. Jay who is the father of two beautiful young ladies, did it all those self tour with flip-flop sandales. We saw a coyote along the way.

6/13/2012  Cochiti Lake, NM - The dam was constructed with 10 yrs and $95 million by the US Army Corps of Engineers. It suppose to the flood control dam, however water level rises to certain level, the water pressure push water to downward and water runs under the dam to flood the below dam area, which is the big problem. The top of the bank of the dam is prohibited to automobiles to pass after the 9/11.

6/12/2012  Tent Rocks National Monument, NM - This place became the National Monument on 2001 and popular place to visit. The cone-shaped tent rocks, boulder cap hoodoos formations are the special characteristic of this place. Addition to the very narrow slot canyon to hike up that was very enjoyable hike; the total hike was 3.8 miles.

6/11/2012  Petroglyph National Monument, NM - I was excited to see the 20,000 petroglyphs that the Petroglyph National Monument flier said. I was totally disappointed I saw was only few dozens petroglyphs and not even close to 20,000. This place is adjacent to the residential area and saw many graffiti on the rocks, some of were good and some of were not.. Here are what I saw from there.

6/10/2012  San Jose Badland, NM - I was trying to find the road to go to the San Jose Badland, Sue who converting the old church into residential house, showed me around and explained that there are many roads around there and can drive throught with 4x4 high clearance car. Anyway she hiked with me for while and gave me a direction where to hike up to, this area is so colurful and beautiful.

6/10/2012  Lybrook Badland, NM - I drove for while and quit at the certain point, I should to go all the way but at that time I thought this road is endless and don't know where to end up. Anyway I missed the best part, a means the best part is save for the next time. The road was for gas and oil drilling and branches were everywhere, it was Sunday and no workers, it was very quiet place.

6/10/2012  Ah Shi Sle Pah Badland, NM - This is an amazing place, there are hoodoos all over, a means everywhere, not just small area. I hiked for while in the river bed and never ending to see the hoodoos, and most hoodoos have one or more red boulder caps. This place is not widely known place even locals don't know, I have asked few locals but they don't know the location, I was lucky to find it.

6/9/2012  Chaco Culture National Historical Park, NM - This was my 2nd visit. There are many ruins and I missed some but I have visited the Hungo Pavi, Chetro Keti, Pueblo del Arroyo, Kin Kletso, Casa Chiquita, Penasco Blanco. The Penasco Blanco was 7.6 miles hike to get there and located at the top of the mesa, the petroglyphs and pictograph are along the way. It is beautiful and large scale of ruins.

6/8/2012  De Na Zin Badland, NM - This is wide area and no trail information was available, and I had no luck because no one there to ask. I can spend few days for just explore there but I didn't have time to do so, I hiked one mile or so and enjoyed wide view and came back. At next time I need some more home work to do before heading to this place.

6/8/2012  Bisti Badland, NM - The full name of this place is the Bisti Wildness, San Juan Basin Badland. Total 9 places for the San Juan Basin Badland, and this place is one of them. There is no trail information available, but I was lucky because one couple just finished hiking and gave me a direction of hiking, so that I got a good time with hiking and enjoy nice rock formations.

6/7/2012  Angle Peak NRA, NM - This place has a wide view from view points and not far from the highway 550. The campground is free of charge with nice view but no one there to enjoy the camping, there are so many 'no-see-em' that the tiny bugs that the reason no one can enjoy the camping. They bite me very good, I was struggle for itchiness for next few days.

6/6/2012  Crow Canyon, NM - This place is known for the petroglyphs, and there are the Main panel, Big Warrier panel, 44 panel in this area to explore. The Pueblo Ruin was standing way up on the mountain side, I hiked up but not easy to get there, can you see where located at the last photo? There are many oil and gas wells around here and trafic was very busy by workers.

6/6/2012  Salmon Ruin, NM - Suppose to it contained 250 to 300 rooms in this ruin however I saw was only couple dozens rooms. The size of the ruin was smaller size than the advertized, I was little dissapointed. The quality of the ruin was very good, also they built many attractions such as variety of old style houses.

6/6/2012  Four Corners - Only one four corners does exist in US that located at CO, UT, AZ and NM. To see the corners, pay the entrance fee $3/person to Indian community, which they own the land, a means they are making good money and they built very modern vender buildings and layout of the four states. The second row two right most photos are Shiprocks, NM. Also added road side view photos.

6/5/2012  Coal Mine Canyon, AZ - The canyon is located in the Hopi Indian Reservation and need a permit to hike in the canyon that someone told me, however from the view point, no need a permit to walk around from the top of the canyon. It is confusing and no one knows exactly what kind permit or where to go, I spent couple days to just find it out, I want to hike ligally. It is beautiful canyon for miles.

6/4/2012  Waterholes Canyon, Page, AZ - The Waterholes Canyon is a beautiful slot canyon and located south from the town of Page. The TH is located at the parking lot by the highway 89 at the north side of the bridge. The East Canyon from the bridge is a beautiful canyon, need a permission ($5/day) to hike in there. First photo called the Great Wall that located above the canyon, same as parking level.

6/3/2012  Gunsmoke Set, Johnson Canyon, UT - The Gunsmoke was very popular and old an American radio and television Western drama series. It run on radio from 1952 - 1961 (9 years) and on TV from 1955 - 1975 (20 years), which was the United States' longest-running prime time drama with 635 episodes. The set is still exist, sort of, in the Johnson Canyon that the east of town of Kanab.

6/3/2012  Kanab, UT - Kanab is a famous place for the making movies and over 100 movies were made from this town. The movie set museum has collection of many movie sets that originally located at different locations and moved to one location, which is current movie set museum. Seems to many western movies were filmed from this town.
