4/28/2012  Mt Stirling, NV (LVMC) - Toby is a 10 years old Joel's son, who has entire life experience with hiking and no problem for today's hike. This is my 7th LVMC 50 Classic hike, beside the Bridge Mountain, Frenchman Mountain, Griffith Peak, Muddy Peak, Mummy Mountain and Telescope Peak. 4/24/2012  Windy Peak, Red Rock, NV (ABF) - Windy Peak from the east route, which I wanted to hike up for long time. The trail does exist and many small cairns are here and there, which means not easy to lost there. It was strenuous hike but reward was great. The temperature was warmer side, flowers were blooming, and ticks were already out there, we spotted couple ticks today.     Road Map

4/21/2012  Wedding Chapels, Las Vegas, NV - Las Vegas has a lot of 'Capital of the World' titles and 'The Marriage Capital of the World' is one of them. Last year Clark County has been issued nearly 90,000 marriage licenses, $60 each fee, which means over $5,000,000 revenue to the county. Vegas has ton's of wedding chapels, I have visited several wedding chapels and saw many happy couples.

4/21/2012  Chinatown, Las Vegas, NV - It is located only few blocks west from the Las Vegas Strip and on the Spring Mountain Road. It should be called an Asian District instead of the Chinatown because there are many variety of Asian stores. Especially there are many Asian restaurants such as Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean to name a few. I am sure that you will find some Asian food that you like from here.

4/18/2012  Yellow Knolls, UT (OHCOSU) - There were many goats grazing on sparse vegetation at the side of the road. This area is very colorfull, black, red and Ivory colors but not yellow, however ivory color is close enough to called yellow, and this area called Yellow Knolls. The surface rocks are hexagon, octagon or whatever shapes and very distinguished. We turned back by the water pipe.    Road Map

4/17/2012  Bear Clan, UT - This is the secret place for the petroglyphs or you can't find the any information from the Internet. It is located not far from Fort Pearce, only few miles west. Significant appearance is the 4-finger foot petroglyphs. Also vertical cloud like lines are the evidence of the lightnings stroke at this place. 2nd row center photo is the falling man.      More Rock Art click here.

4/17/2012  Warner Valley, UT - It is called the Warner Valley Dinosaur Tracks Historical Site and not far from the Fort Pearce Heritage Site. About one foot heigh metal fence surroundings the Dinosour Trucks. Suppose to we can see the 161 individual footprints and 23 trackways, but I saw only few footprints. This area is all red color that very different view than the Fort Pearce.

4/17/2012  Fort Pearce, UT - The ruin on the small hill is the remaining guard post built during Utah's Black Hawk War that the war between Native Americans and Mormons. My main purpose to came here was to see the Red Man, pictograph. I found couple petroglyphs rocks but not the Red Man, I was ready to give it up. Then rescure team showed up and took me to the Red Man, they made my day!   Road Map

4/16/2012  Awesome Canyon, UT (OHCOSU) - The title of this hike was the 'Awesome Canyon from South'. Susan has no fear for the height and standing and setting at the edge of over 1,000 ft vertical wall that was the highlight of the day to watch her, see 5th row 4-6th photos. 1st row 3rd photo was the reflection of the mountain on the water pond. The view of Snow Canyon State Park was beautiful.

4/13/2012  Federal Building, Las Vegas, NV - The monumental column at the entrance of the building that designed by Dan Dworsky. This is the Lloyd D. George U.S. Courthouse and Federal Building and one of only three buildings in the nation to receive the General Services Administration Honor Award for Architecture - the highest award for the architecture achievement given by the U.S. Government.

4/13/2012  Farmers Market, Las Vegas, NV - This place is called 'Downtown 3rd Farmers Market' and located next to the Mob Museum, open every Friday 9-5, which just started on 3/9/12. This building is the old transit center, see 1st row 2-3rd photos, where new transit center called Bonneville Transit Center opened Nov 2010, see 4-5th photos. They sell China Ranch, Tecopa, date products, see the last photo.

4/11/2012  Art District Murals, Las Vegas, NV - It is called the Mural, Mural Art, Graffiti, Graffiti Art or Graffiti Mural, whatever call it, these are beautiful. I found those Mural Arts from the Art District in Las Vegas Downtown. There are many Mural Arts in the Art District and I already posted five Murals on 4/6/12 First Friday section. Those Murals I posted here are all very high quality of the Mural Art, enjoy it.

4/7/2012  Neon Museum, Las Vegas, NV - This Neon Museum is the outdoor preserved and restored historical neon signs exhibition and open 24/7, free of charge. We can see it by self-guided walking tour in the downtown of Las Vegas. Each neos sign comes with the plaque that explain its history. I added some more neon signs that the Neon Museum has been omitted.

4/7/2012  Mob Museum, Las Vegas, NV - It's opened on February 14, 2012, not too long ago . The Mob Museum building is the former federal courthouse and U.S. Post Office, and they kept the courtroom and mail boxes. It is located in the downtown Las Vegas and next to the old Las Vegas City Hall. Mob had an influence of turning Las Vegas into an entertainment of the capitol from the Mohave Desert.

4/6/2012  First Friday, Las Vegas, NV - It is called the First Friday because open only once a month on first Friday. It is the art show and closed the streets in the Art District that located in the downtown Las Vegas and few blocks south from the Fremont Street, so that venders can have own space to sell their items. The opening time changes summer and winter, today was from 6pm to 12am, midnight.

4/6/2012  City Hall, Las Vegas, NV - Las Vegas City Hall was not for sale nor for rent, but somehow Zappos took over the City Hall. Las Vegas City Hall has been moved to new location and Zappos will move into the old City Hall buildings in 2013. First row is the old City Hall that Zappos will move in. Second row is the new City Hall. Zappos is the leading online shoes store and their business is extremely good.

4/4/2012  Mormon Fort, Las Vegas, NV - Las Vegas means 'the meadow'. This place is a Nevada State Park and originated the town of Las Vegas in 1905. Only 3 acres but very rich in history because the water was available, the water was running about three miles from the Springs Preserve to here, see 2nd row last photo. Las Vegas never stop expanding since started to build the Hoover Dam in 1930.

4/4/2012  Clark County Government Center, Las Vegas, NV - The uniqueness of the design of the buildings that attracted to me to visit. The pyramid shape building is the cafeteria, many tables and chairs at the center of the building and cozy booths at the edge of the building. The design of the buildings are different than the ordinary government building, because located in Las Vegas???

4/4/2012  Smith Center, Las Vegas, NV - This is the center for the high quality performing arts. Las Vegas has tons of performing art places, all large to middle size hotel / casino has ones, I thought why we need this place for the performing arts? Most hotel / casino performing arts sites are mainly for the visitors and some for locals. However this place is for the community, a means for locals.

4/4/2012  World Market Center, Las Vegas, NV - There are three large buildings in the World Market Center. This place is the wholesale of new designed funitures and accessories, which means many manufacturer, mainly high class design, companies have a showroom here and customers (retailers) are come from all over the world. I found some stores sell to the general public for displayed models.
