One of the Acadia National Park's most unique features is the carriage roads and bridges. The man behind them was the wealthy financier, John D. Rockefeller Jr. He had built 57 miles of gravel roads and 17 hand-carved granite stone bridges between 1913 and 1940. He also donated one-third of the land in the park. The Cat is the ferry from Acadia National Park to Nova Scotia. It is fast, big and comfortable to ride.
