5/1/2023 OHV Trail RA, Richfiels, UT - There are OHV trails and one side is all rock cliffs, which parallel to the highway, where petroglyphs are located. I’ve hiked one of the OHV trail to get to the higher side of the cliff walls to see the petroglyphs. Seems to we can hike/climb up any places to find the rock art. I have a limit, so that hike aound safer places to find some petroglyphs.

5/2/2023 Paxton Corral RA, UT - Around here is all flat fields and suddenly long cliff walls showed up. There are many black rocks/boulders on the slope of the cliff area. Petroglyphs are located one segment of the cliff walls area. I found many petroglyphs, those are not bold carved petroglyphs, more like scratch the surface of the rock. Anyway I enjoyed to finding it under the nice weather.

5/2/2023 Hole-in-the-Rock RA, west of Kanosh, UT - Dark black basalt boulder that petroglyphs are on it, which similar to Kanosh West RA site, different is cliff walls are very short here. This place is easy to hike up to the flat mesa, from it, view is nice wide open view. I found many petroglyphs but most of are faded out, a means I was late 1,000 years to see original gorgeous petroglyphs.

5/3/2023 Lava Tube, Fillmore, UT - Lava Tube field is large in size, I have visited only a small areas. One area is gentle lava field, we can walk anyplaces but there is no hiking trails. Another place is much more aggressive looking, no-one wants to walk in/aound it, a good thing is no hiking trails.

5/3/2023 Chalk Creek Hieroglyphs, Fillmore, UT - The panel is 1ft x 2ft, very small, and there are little over 20 individual figures in it, all figures are 2-3 inches size, small. Also I have stopped by to the ranger’s office to took couple more figures.

5/4/2023 Clear Lake Town, UT - A large size Clear Lake is a totally dry. West side of the lake, there was town called Clear Lake, which was a small community that totally gone. A means nothing left in the town area except a marker at the entrance of the town and metal cross, large in size for the cross. Nothing left even can not called a ghost town.

5/5/2023 Pervant Mesa South, Delta Area, UT - I found a few petroglyphs panels on the slope of the mesa. There are many black rocks/boulders in this area. I didn’t have any information, just hike around to find it - How lucky am I? If I can find petroglyphs panels like today, life is much easier.

5/6/2023 Great Stone Face RA, UT - I was near the Great Stone Face area, so that stopped by to see the petroglyphs panel. Sun was not right position, a means can not take good photos, but I don’t have a pation to just wait. I know I can’t be a good photographer, because photographer need a pation.

5/6/2023 Topaz Museum, Delta, UT - This museum dedicated entirely for the Japanese relocation/internment camp. There are many photos and explanations, and re-creation of the barlack, which has no running water, no air conditioner, life was hell to live there. However people were smilling when taking photos.

5/6/2023 Topaz Japanese Relocation Camp, Delta, UT - Total 120,000 Japanese-American were kept here during WWII. They lost everything, lost house, lost job, lost all their belongings, nothing left at their home town. After war was over, they had a choice for where to live. They all left, no-one wanted to stay here, town of Delta. Delta is a peaceful and quiet town. I wonder why no-one choose to stay in this town?

5/7/2023 Lace Curtain, Pahvant Butte, UT - North side of the Pahvant Butte, there is a large stright cliff wall called the Lace Crtain. This cliff wall was formed by the melted magma, and looks out of this world. It is a home to the Golden Eagles.

5/7/2023 Pahvant Dry Lake, UT - This place is close to the Pahvant Butte. It is dry lake, white surface and open area. I was hoping to find some rock art panels, unfortunately there is no suitalbe rocks/boulders in this area. I was disappointed but I felt good to be walk around in the no water lake.

5/8/2023 Klondike Mine, Miller Canyon, UT - It is located at the Contact Canyon that the branch out from the Miller Canyon. Some mine structures are still standing. I was here to find the rock art panels, but empty handed. There are too much water in the creek and overflow onto the road, a means water is running cross the road and washed out. I didn’t see anyone today.

5/9/2023 Gunnison Massacre Site, Delta, UT - The site is located at the middle of the no-where, little west from the town of Delta. It was ties to the railroad construction, Indian-white relations and the Mormon movement, and eight people were killed. There are a metal pole and memorial stone at the site.

5/9/2023 Great Basin Museum, Delta, UT - At the Gunnison Massacre Site, not much information there and contact the Great Basin Museum for detain. So that I’ve visited this museum to find more information. This museum is fork museum, local people donated their variable or memorable items into the museum. Each item has full of history to tell.

5/10/2023 Pervant Mesa Northwest, Delta Area, UT - I was hoping to find some petroglyphs today, unexpected there are many petroglyphs in this area, happy surprise that was a good thing. Today was cloudy that helped me for the photographing. I almost step on a rattlesnake, he was very mad at me and made very noise. A good thing was he didn’t bite me.

5/11/2023 Pervant Mesa North, Delta Area, UT - Hike on the slope just below the mesa with snake gatter on, it is rattlesnake season here. I found many petroglyphs today as well. Hike was short but very productive day today.

5/12/2023 Pervant Mesa Northeast, Delta Area, UT - Finding less petroglyphs panels today, but there are still some petroglyphs panels. Today I had a chance to hike up to the atop of the mesa, where top of the mesa is not flat, which I was expected, there are some short mount ranges, here and there. I can spend all day here, but that for some other time.

5/14/2023 Pervant Mesa West, Delta Area, UT - 9 miles round trip hike today. At the bigining not much petroglyphs panels, then finding many petroglyphs panels near the end of the destination. I’m so glad I didn’t give it up, almost I did. One of the petroglyphs panel I called "Wow" panel, it is busy panel but very bold and attractive panel that made my day.

5/16/2023 Pervant Mesa East, Delta Area, UT - Petroglyphs panels are usually located lower side of the slope at the Pervant Mesa, however I found nice petroglyphs panels higher side of the slope in this area. Seems to not many people come to this side of the Pervant Mesa.

5/17/2023 Pioneer Charcoal Kilns, Leamington, UT - The location is very odd, one side is highway, and other side is train track, and not much space between them. There are two kilns, one has missing top parts and one is almost perfect. There are many mountains surrounding it, nice place.

5/19/2023 Little Sahara Recreation Area, UT - Sand dunes are conteniously growing and shifting that the ranger said. There is a party town at the bottom of the Sand Mountain, many large RVs with trailers. There are the top of the line ATVs all over here. I didn’t know ATV can run up to the steep sandy mountain so fast. Also there are dirt bikes and para-grinders. It is very noisy by sound of motors. Only one thing common here is everyone happy.

5/19/2023 Split Rock RA, Desert Mountain, UT - Road condition was good until South Junction, after that road was little bumpy. There are white rocks covered mountains all over around here, however rock art site is covered black boulders. I found couple small petroglyphs panels. One panel is faced up, I almost missed it.

5/20/2023 Judd Creek RA, UT - Bridge is washed out by creek water, a means the road discontenued until built a new bridge. Rock art site is just before the creek, behind the parking lot. Black rocks covered mountain that the petroglyphs are located. Petroglyphs are here and there, hike up/down the slope to find it.

5/21/2023 Painted Rocks, Yuba Lake State Park, UT = This place is east side of the Yuba Lake. Lake water level is very low, even boat lamp is closed. Red color pigment of pictographs panel is located higher side of the cliff wall. The panel is a smaller size but nice one. I don’t want to know how to get up there, straight cliff wall, to draw it.

5/24/2023 Lake Mountains Day1, UT - West side of the Utah Lake hill, first 3 miles of up and down hike I couldn’t find any rock arts, almost give it up, then started finding some petroglyphs. Petroglyphs are located lower side of the hill, also grond level of the flat rocks, easy to miss it.

5/24/2023 Utah Lake, UT - It is a large beautiful fresh water lake. Lake view from west to look at east is better view because snowtop mountainrange background of the lake. Ugly truth is lake water is toxicated and lake was closed year of 2016, 2018 and 2019. There is no water activities, swimming, fishing, boating and more. It is caused by Harmful Algae Blooms, that algae grow out of control while producing toxic by overfeeding nutrients, maninly phosphorus, nitrogen and carbon that flow from the lawns and farmlands.

5/25/2023 Lake Mountains Day2, UT - I found petroglyphs about 1.5 miles of hike, after that no more found. Seems to there are many archaological significant signs than actual petroglyphs, I really confused.

5/27/2023 Smith Family Archaeologial Preserve UT - This place is western shoreline Utah Lake. About 200 acres donated by the Smith Family to preserve the petroglyphs. Today was last tour before hot summer, they have free tours in spring and fall. Petroglyphs are located here and there on the relatively smaller size rocks. Utah Lake view is just gorgeous from this place, I can spend all day to look at lake.

5/27/2023 Lake Mountains day3, UT - Denise took me to the bottom of the slope of the Lake Mountains. She showed me some petroglyphs that I couldn⟩t find last couple days, which located mainly on the ground level, thank you Denise to showed me around.

5/28/2023 Goshen, UT - Goshen is a small town and located south side of the Utah Lake. A red color pictograph is located on the road side between two stack up large rocks about 100ft above the road, easy to miss it if you don’t give any attention. I don’t want to know how he got up there, too dangerous to climb up there.

5/29/2023 Three Worriers Panel, Eagle Mountain, UT - This place is by the residential area. The site has 7 metal fenced out, just like grave yard. Most of rocks in the fence are lichen all over. Some rocks in the fence are only lichen, no petroglyphs, I thought that’s funny.

5/29/2023 Parrish Creek, Centerville, UT - Too much creek water running aggressively. The trail to go to the pictographs panel is by the creek and it is very steep. Water washed out the trail or trail is under the water, anyway I couldn’t go further. I’ll try some other time when water is much less and calm.

5/29/2023 Connor Spring RA, UT - On the hill, there are cluster of rocks here and there. Some cluster has petroglyphs on it and some of are nothing. There were few different generations came to carved the rocks, but mainly very bold petroglyphs we can see here. This place is northan shoreline of the Great Salt Lake, and view from the top of the hill is breathtaking.

5/31/2023 Secret Canyon, UT - Today’s destination was Tunnel Canyon and try to find out the pictographs panel. The canyon was not visible from the any places until get closer to it. It is unique configuration of the canyon and beautiful. I hiked around and no pictographs found. But I enjoyed 6 miles of hike. Later at night, checked Google Map and found I was in the Secret Canyon rather than Tunnel Canyon. I don’t believe I went wrong canyon. Tunnel Canyon is for next time.
