3/2/2023 Ventrigger Hills, Mojave National Preserve, CA - I was hoping to find rock art panels, and end up white rock/boulder field. I couldn’t find any rock arts, but enjoy amazing white rock hills. All those white rocks have no shape corners, which means those were in the water for while, like millions of years that my guess.

3/3/2023 Vontrigger Hike, Mojave National Preserve, CA - I thought I can kill two birds with one stone, a means I can find petroglyphs and gold with one hike. At the end, I didn’t find either petroglyphs nor gold that was disappointed. But weather was nice and beautiful area, I enjoyed hike.

3/3/2023 Mitchell Caverns, Providence Mountains State Recreation Area, CA - They have two tours each day, morning and afternoon. In the cave is gorgeous, couple problems that too dry inside the cave and lightning settings are need to be improve it. Also before reached caverns, road condition is just like driving skill testing site, many potholes to avoid.

3/5/2023 Black Mountain West, Black Mountain Wildness Area, CA - I walked around to find the RA panels, lucky enough to find the RA site. Many RA panels are located at the middle of the mountain of hill side. I didn’t climb up the hill, stay on the ground to took photos.

3/5/2023 Black Canyon RA, Black Mountain Wildness Area, CA - There are so may graffiti in this section of canyon, some one spray painted, and many are carved mainly their name and date. I wonder do they know that their action, graffiti, hurting rock art lover? Sad to see it.

3/6/2023 Black Outer Canyon RA, Black Mountain Wildness Area, CA - I’ve hiked west side of outer side of the Black Canyon to find RA panels. There are many black rocks that covered slope of the mountains, which why we can see mountains are black. I found one RA site, there are a few petroglyphs.

3/6/2023 Hidden Canyon RA, Black Mountain Wildness Area, CA - Canyon trailhead starts other side of the mountain, I have to cross the mountain to reach the TH. The trail stop at less than one mile, because 25ft straight down dry water falls preventing go through. There are many RA panels, most of are old and fading out. I’ve hiked 5 miles at this morning and another 5 miles hike this afternoon. Oh boy...I’m tired.

3/7/2023 Inscription Canyon RA, Black Mountain Wildness Area, CA - It is a short canyon with full of petroglyphs at both sides of canyon. Sad things are more graffiti and lichen taking over. It is beautiful area, wide open space just front of the wire fence, and nice wide view.

3/8/2023 Murphy’s Well RA, Black Mountain Wildness Area, CA - There are couple nice petroglyphs panels in this area, one is on the ground level, one is middle of the slope. There are many nice black rocks and boulders, but most of are untouched, I wonder why?

3/8/2023 White Lake, Black Mountain Wildness Area, CA - White lake is totally dry, surrounding by black mountains. Slope of the mountains are covered by black rocks. I was hoping to find rock art panels, but no luck today.

3/9/2023 Squaw Spring, Red Mountain, CA - I got waypoint for the rock art panel from the Internet that was bogus, nothing there that disappointed me. The spring is collecting rain water for small animals to drink, save animal lives that a very thoughtfull. Today was nice hiking weather, I enjoyed even no rock art.

3/10/2023 China Lake Museum, Ridgecrest, CA - This is a 5 years old museum and not finished yet, large two buildings are empty, how long takes time to complete the museum? They showed me 15 minutes video about the Air Force from the sky that was nicely done.

3/11/2023 El Paso Mountain RA, Ridgecrest, CA - Three areas to look around to find the rock art panels, distance is relatively short and located at the middle of the mountain. Petroglyphs are on the individual rocks, I was excited to keep finding it, I found much more than originally expected.

3/12/2023 California 14ers, Sierra Nevada Mountain Range, CA - 14ers means mountain higher than 14,000ft and California has 15 that next to the Colorado which has 58, I’ve hiked total 38 14ers, 36 in Colorado and 2 in California. This year Sierra Nevada Mountain Range is just gorgeous, so much snow on the top. I never get tired to look at.

3/12/2023 Manzanar War Relocation Center, near Lone Pine, CA - During WWII, all Japanese and Japanese American were kept prisoner in the relocation center that several locations in US. Manzanar War Relocation Center is one of them. They have many memobilia posted in the museum, the museum is free of charge.

3/12/2023 Alabama Hills, Lone Pine, CA - It is beautiful rock formation area, back is the snow capped white mountains, Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. Use to we can camp any places in this area, in the beautiful surrounding rocks area, but no longer, only certain signed area now. Regulation has changed but beautifulnes doesn’t changed.

3/13/2023 Fish Springs Hill RA, South of Big Pine, CA - Main road was closed because construction workers were working on the damaged by rain. Which means I have to hike little longer. I’ve found petroglyphs panels in two separate areas. One in south that doesn’t have much, but one in north there are many petroglyphs panels on the cliff walls by the creek. It made my day!

3/15/2023 Shotgun Junction Panel, Volucanic Tableland, CA - It is nice boulders and cliff walls around here, but only one rock has full of nice petroglyphs on it. Sad thing is someone shot it and bullet holes are visible.

3/15/2023 Shotgun Junction Road Site, Volucanic Tableland, CA - Contenue hike after road end to reach the higher side of the Sad Boulder overview area. There are four petroglyphs panels on the volucanic rocks/boulders. View is wonderful look down the Sad Boulder parking lot and beyond.

3/16/2023 Happy Boulder Flat Top RA, Volucanic Tableland, CA - This place is middle of no where, but north of the Happy Boulder Canyon. There are a few rock art panels, and most of are faded out, except one panel that was covered boldly carved petroglyphs, which is beautiful panel.

3/16/2023 Happy Boulder Canyon, Volucanic Tableland, CA - This is a popular place, people to climb up the boulders. There are many boulders in the canyon that for everyone to enjoy. Entire canyon view is not visible from the main road, Chalk Cliff Road. I’m glad I saw entire canyon view from the above.

3/18/2023 Shotgun Junction North, Volucanic Tableland, CA - I saw a nice large rock wall area that rock arts shoul be, but not. The rock art panel is located easy to miss it place, back of the volcanioc boulder. I am glad I found it. I’ve hike around to find some more rock art panels, but there is no more rock art.

3/19/2023 Sad Boulder Riverview Site, Volucanic Tableland, CA - Just east of the Sad Boulder, top of the cliff and nice view area, there are a few petroglyphs boulders. All petroglyphs are faded out and not easy to see it, even someone put red chalk on some petroglyphs.

3/20/2023 Long Ridge RA, Volucanic Tableland, CA - It is located north side of the Happy Boulder Canyon, which run west to east. It is not high but long ridge, south to north. There are many nice boulders, but I found some but not much petroglyphs.

3/22/2023 Head Wash Panel, Volucanic Tableland, CA - Head Wash is a short wash, when wash curved to north, that the place rock art panels are located, in this case combination of the petroglyphs and pictographs, which surprised me. In the panel, there are many heads in it, so that I called the Head Wash.

3/23/2023 Checkerboad Panel, Volucanic Tableland, CA - The Chalk Cliff Road has been closed for while because segments of the road were washed away. So that spend more hiking mileage to reach the destination, actually I spent close to 10 miles today. At the front of the Checkerboad, just like a mini Sky Rock, where more petroglyphs are located faced sky.

3/23/2023 Sky Rock, Volucanic Tableland, CA - I was near the Sky Rock, so that stop by to see it. There is a sign and can’t climb up the Sky Rock any longer. It is difficult to see entire petroglyphs without climb up the boulder is nearly impossible, unless they will make view dick. Anyway, I saw a prtt of the Sky Rock with beautiful background, I am happy.

3/23/2023 13 Moons Panel, Volucanic Tableland, CA - This panel is close to my destination, so that stop by to see it too. I wonder there is small parts, red pigment is present, added it later or original artist did it? Anyway 13 Moons Panel is beautiful.

3/24/2023 Buttermilk Boulder RA, West of Bishop, CA - This is a beautiful area, white mountains are west and Battermilk Boulders are allover. I found only one Buttermilk Boulder has a red pigment of the pictoglyphs, where kiosk information mentioned about the petroglyphs, I look around and I couldn’t find petroglyphs panel. Road is very bad, water washed out many segments of the road. I can’t drive up to come here, hiked.

3/27/2023 Black Canyon, Pahranagat National Wildlife Refuge, NV - They have improved many view areas, which means stay on the trails, no more freedom to hike up any places like old time. Moreover, Black Canyon area is closed and no sign to re-open.

3/27/2023 White River Narrow South RA, NV - There are three different areas to explore for the rock art panels. It is located south of White River Narrow main rock art site. Among three areas, one area is white rock and many cutting petroglyphs panels, other two areas are many petroglyphs on the dark rock cluster.

3/27/2023 White River Narrow Major Site, NV - There are many petroglyphs panels in one place, when I saw it, I was so excited and a hard time to me to calm down. There are many many figures and many more figures on top of it, a means can not tell what figures are look like. I am so glad I made it to here.

3/27/2023 Weepah Spring RA, near White River Narrow, NV - It is unusual to have pictographs around the White River Narrow, because most of are petroglyphs rather than pictographs. There are red pigment of pictographs on the south faced cliff wall by the Highway 318, not many and not so impressed but nice to see pictographs at time to time.

3/28/2023 Boulder Side Canyon RA, White River Narrow, NV - I was neuvious about the road to get there, may washedout or deep sand, instead of very nice dirt road, no problems. At the canyon mouth, borth sides of dark rocks that petroglyphs are located, some of are located very high. I didn’t climb up the boulders, if climb up, can find more petroglyphs that sure.

3/28/2023 Guzzler, Boulder Side Canyon, NV - I don’t know what guzzler means, so checked it out. It is collect rain water under the border which is the drinking water for the small animals to save their lives.

3/28/2023 Big Rocks Wildness RA, NV - I found two boulders have some petroglyphs on it in separate areas. There are many nice boulders in this wildness area, I’m sure there are many more rock art panels, I’d like to spend some more time in this area to find more rock art panels in future.

3/30/2023 War-Shield Canyon RA, NV - Go through the Dead Man’s Wash either drive or hike to get the Pahranagat Wash. There are five different rock art sites I found. Two sites are include war-shield figures. There are many petroglyphs, I feel comfortable to find many more if time arrowed.

3/30/2023 Stuart Ranch RA, NV - Ranch is no longer operated. Cross the creek to get to the ranch. I tried to not get wet that was more challengeable. There is a old rock house that was a ranch house, smaller than I thought. Rock art panels are located on the cliff walls that parallel to the rail road near by. There are many busy panels, I enjoyed it.
