8/1/2022 King Reservoir, south of Malta, MT - It is amazing to see this size of reservoir around here because there is no water for miles. This man-made reservoir is oasis for the birders and animals. It is beautiful place.

8/1/2022 Indian Lake Medicine Rock, south of Malta, MT - I was looking for the Tank Coulee and Second Creek petroglyphs boulders, I couldn’t find both, need waipoint for both. Stop by to the Indian Lake Medicine Rock, it was 100°F and there is no shade, left quickly. I still believe this petroglyphs boulder is one of the best petroglyphs boulders in MT.

8/2/2022 Two Hands Cave, Zortman, MT - I was hoping to get some information about the cave rock art. Instead of John took me to the cave, and explain to me surroundings. There are some pictographs in the cave, but Missoula Museum took main pictographs panels years ago. Thank you John for the tour.

8/3/2022 Snake Butte, MT - It is beautiful cliff walls of the columnar jointing area. I’ve hiked but no rock art found at the north side of the Snake Butte. The dirt road to get here is wide and well maintained, at the end of the road, there is cold and clean water coming out that feed the lake.

8/4/2022 Fresno Reservoir Hike, MT - There are nice sand beachs in this reservoir, but no one use it because not easy to get it. By the boat is the easiest to reach it. I saw remaining the fireplace at the nice view area. Addition to I saw large canon ball figure rocks.

8/5/2022 Cottonwood Bridge area, MT - It is located north side of the Fresno Reservoir, and this is the only bridge between north side of the Fresno Reservoir to Canada. Suppose to couple petroglyphs boulders in this area, try to find it but no luck. The Milk River and swamp area is beautiful view.

8/6/2022 Milk River, near the Canada border, MT - Milk River sound like color of river is milk color, it is not, color of river is dirt color, not so beautiful. Suppose to a petroglyphs boulder around here, hike to find it but no success. Canadian border is on the ridge of other side of the Milk River. Running water in the river is full capacity.

8/7/2022 Lost River Wildlife Management Area, MT - This is a continuation of the yesterday, little north of the Milk River area near the Canadian Border. View of the Milk River around here is beautiful especial horse shore bend area. Again no luck for finding the petroglyphs boulder.

8/8/2022 Sweet Grass Hills, east of Whitlash, MT - Central to east of northern Montana has many hills but no mountains. When I saw the beautiful Sweet Grass Hill range that east of the town of Whitlash, I wanted to hike one of the peaks that about 5,500 to 7,000 ft range, there are 5 to 6 peaks. However there is no Trailhead nor trail to hike up because surrounding these mountain range is all private property. Isn’t bizarre?

8/9/2022 Sanford Park, Tiber Dam and Lake Elwell, MT - There are nine free campgrounds by the Lake Elwell, which is one segment of the Marias River, this campground is one of them. Located just below the Tiber Dam. Uniqueness of this park is, there are many large cottonwood trees, which means nice shade for every camp site.

8/12/2022 Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, Alberta, CANADA - This park is located not far from the US-Canada border. One segment of the beautiful Milk River, there are hoodoos, rack arts and beach, which are main attraction of this park. Campground is full for few days.

8/12/2022 Rock Art of Aisinai'pi Tour, Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, Alberta, CANADA - I’ve joined to one of the guided tours today. This tour showed three rock art panels in 97°F temperature, I came here, CANADA, to cool weather, but still very hot, just like Montana.

8/13/2022 Hoodoo Trail Hike, Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, Alberta, CANADA - This trail is the longest trail that this park offered. There are rock art sites on this trail, some of are very hard to see itby faded out. North-West Mounted Police Post buildings are in the view, which used to catch the whisky smuggler from Montana, that no longer active.

8/13/2022 Beach, Writing-on-Stone Provincial Park, Alberta, CANADA - This beach is located one segment of the Milk River. The river is not too deep, adult can walk to cross the river. People are playing in the water rather than swimming to cool down and have a fun. Campground is full because people are come to this beach.

8/13/2022 Naato'si's Path Tour, Writing-on-Stone Previncial Park, Alberta, CANADA - The tour guide is old native Blackfoot Indian and knowledgeable person, which make sense to guide for the rock art tour, which his ansester created. He explained each petroglyphs and convinced me. Petroglyphs are small in size.

8/13/2022 Chin Park, Alberta, CANADA - Driving farmers fields for long time, then suddenly this lake showed up, it is beautiful, stop by to enjoy the lake. However they charge the entrance fee, and no way to enjoy the lake from the lake shore.

8/14/2022 Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta, CANADA - The park is a badland, which is untouched wild beauty, that miles after miles. This park has largest badland in Alberta, CANADA. However hiking is limited only hike on the trails.

8/14/2022 Royal Tyrrell Museum, Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta, CANADA - It is located in the visitor center of the Dinosaur Provincial Park. It is not large in size but enough to display couple full dinosaur skeletons that amazing to see it.

8/14/2022 Fossil Display Loop hike, Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta, CANADA - This 3km loop hiked instead of driving. Hard things were hiked under 95°F temperature and many dust from the driving cars pass by. There are couple places display the dinosaur fossils, which in the buildings. Nice place to hike.

8/15/2022 Explorers Bus Tour, Dinosaur Provincial Park, Alberta, CANADA - Tour with over a dozen small kids is not easy, but tour guide was good to take care of. Use to find many dinosaur bones from this park and sold to museums, that can not do anymore. Tour in the center of the badland, beautiful any directions. Someone told me, there are rock art in this park, that the why I am here, but that was false information, no rock art in this park.

8/15/2022 EID, Scandia, Alberta, CANADA - This museum full name is the Eastern Irrigation District Historical Park. A guide showed me inside the seven buildings but not complete it yet, addition to showed me inside the large building of Elevator building. Campground is full by annual renters, leave RV there all year long just like their second house, come only weekends.

8/15/2022 Bee Tent, Alberta, CANADA - When driving in CANADA, you can see the many small tents in the field, I asked a farmer, he told me that for the bees, but not honey bees. The bees pollinate in spring and summer, and die in winter, inside the tent has the borders that has many holes, bee eggs are in the holes. Bee owner, not farmer, collect eggs before winter and save it, then whole process start again next spring.

8/16/2022 Travers Dam Recreation Area, Alberta, CANADA - Large size lake called the Travers Reservoir. Very quiet and not many people here. Can see the windmills other side of the lake. Water is blue and cooler size, not cold. I also took photos of near by lake.

8/16/2022 Okotoks Erratic Provincial Histori Site, Alberta, CANADA - Rocks moved many miles from their original location by the ice are called Glacial Errantic. Okotoks Errantic was moved by glacier from Jasper National Park. Blackfoot Indian word for rock is Okotok. Red color pigment is showing just like pictographs, but I am afraid it is not pictographs.

8/18/2022 Royal Tyrrell Museum, Drumheller, Alberta, CANADA - They have an excellent collection of the dinosaurs and more skeletons in the large museum building. Every displays are many millions years old, overwhelming to see all those displays.

8/18/2022 Fossil World Discovery Center, Drumheller, Alberta, CANADA - This is a small privately owned fossil museum, where a large dinosaur in front of the store. They have many items inside store, all kind fossils, most of are one of kind fossils.

8/21/2022 Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump, Alberta, CANADA - This place has 7th floors, go top froor to access outside of the buffalo jump cliff. Each floor is nicely decorated related with buffalo jump. I didn’t know was, 200-300 buffalos jumped each time that a massive operation, and many Indians were waiting down there and ready to process buffalos.

8/22/2022 Nikka Yuko Japanese Garden, Lethbridge, Alberta, CANADA - It is a nice Japanese Garden, and green everywhere. They don’t want many colors that the why no flowers. Nice place to walk around and relax.

8/22/2022 Gold Springs Park, near Milk River, Alberta, CANADA - This place is dominated by the campground, there are many RVs that not means to owners of RVs are here, whenever they want to come to enjoy here. There is a horseshoe shape lake with clear water that many people enjoy swimming, however Milk River water is not clear.

8/23/2022 Gibson Dam Pictographs, Lewis &Clark National Forest, MT - Just below the Gibson Dam, there is a nice bridge over the Sun River, where pictographs are located on the trail, 200 ft from the bridge. Just like madman or Indian Piccaso, painted red paint all over the walls by hands, the rock wall was covered all red paint. Some of are can figured out what looks like but most of are not.

8/25/2022 Avalanch Gulch, east of Helena, MT - It is a nice gulch, I enjoyed hike on the road that by the Avalanch Creek. There is a rock art site, 24BW19, shelter at the mouth of gulch, but I couldn’t find it. All I found was old water flume.

8/26/2022 Hellsgate Gulch Rock Art, east of Helena, MT - Madman, Indian Piccaso, was here, painted red paint by hands most of wall, not whole wall. Meaning of paints were all make sense to him, not others. Rock climbers were climbing up amazing the straight up flat rock wall.

8/26/2022 Gates of the Mountains, MT - I was looking for the rock art and found the boat tour takes me there. Join the boat tour, beautiful place to tour, all lime stone around here and many holes/caves/arches on the canyon walls. Red color pictographs are alcove like place side of the canyon, took photos from the moving boat.

8/27/2022 Beartooth WMA, MT - There are a dozen of rock arts between Missouri River and Smith River around here, but I couldn’t find it at all, very disappointed. Even I couldn’t find any rock arts and hike on the road, I enjoyed hike here.

8/28/2022 Toston Dam, MT - Missouri River is the longest river that crossing in state of Montana. This dam is one segment of the Missouri River. Very quiet and beautiful place. There is a rail road runs other side ot the lake/dam. I saw only a few fishermen.

8/29/2022 Museum of the Rockies, Bozeman, MT - I learned that rock art panels were relocated from original place to the museum in Bozeman. So that visited this museum, unfortunately there is no rock art in this museum. I wonder where or which museum? This museum has a nice collection of the dinosaures.

8/29/2022 Madison Buffalo Jump State Park, MT - There is no buildings nor elevators, or tour guides, a means nothing there. All I can see is the buffalo jump cliff. Need to hike up from the bottom of the hill to atop of the hill about 2.5 miles round trip. Nice view from the top, buffalo jump cliff is very wide.

8/30/2022 Missouri Headwaters State Park, MT - There is a pictographs cave in this park, but all faded out and can’t recognized what original figures look like. There are a few nice hiking trails in this park, and three rivers are here to people to enjoy.

8/30/2022 Ringing Rocks, MT - This is a fun place. It is rock/boulder covered mountain. Hit rock with hammer, ringing sound comes from the rock, and each rock has different sound of ringing, even different potion of the same rock has different sound.

8/31/2022 Beaverhead - Deerlodge National Forest, south of Boulder, MT - This particular area has many rounded boulders, beautiful place, nice hiking place. There are suppose to a few rock art sites in this area, but I couldn’t find it. I should to have waypoints before come here, but tried without waypoints, result is totally failed.
